Power Pop: Shake Some Action

Udtrykket 'power pop' blev opfundet af The Who's Pete Townshend i 1967, da han overfor en journalist skulle beskrive deres musikstil. Begrebet blev dog først
udbredt i løbet af 1970'erne for at beskrive diverse grupper, som
videreudviklede en stil fra tresserne: Melodiøse sange parret med power
chords.
Man kan bedst beskrive power pop, som en aggressiv form for pop rock og sangene indeholder ofte prominente elguitarer, distinkte vokaler, sprøde
harmonier, sparsomme soloer og asketiske arrangementer, udført med drive
og energi.
