This book is very effective in delivering the story of how the most influencial and controvertial Martin Luther had transformed the church and the world.
I really loved that book, was very effective and inspiring
The book also notably downplays some of the more contentious aspects of Luther’s work, including his diatribes against Jews, which are given fewer than 10 pages, and Luther’s council to Philip of Hesse regarding his bigamous marriage, which isn’t mentioned at all.
I was raised in catholicism, but I do understand Martin Luther's mission as church was corrupted making many terrible things. Of course, like any social movement, one man is sensible enough to see what the establishment is doing wrong and fights against it only to find that things are not always as he thought. Humans are complicated and Martin Luther, a great reformer of the church, struggled to make a new church.
A must read for sure.
I enjoyed the details in explaining the politics of indulgences. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in church history.
