Darline Dorce-Coupet is an accomplished educator, prolific writer and entrepreneur with a career spanning over 25 years.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and raised in Miami, Florida, she embodies the essence of cultural exploration and creative expression. Her journey began with a transformative study abroad experience in Paris, France, which inspired a lifelong commitment to teaching, storytelling and academic growth.
An experienced educator, Ms. Dorce-Coupet holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in French from Barry University. She also holds an Associate's degree from the University of Florida, where she participated in an exchange programme at the Sorbonne University and the American College in Paris, studying French Civilization and haute couture. Her teaching career has taken her worldwide, with experience in the USA, UAE, and China.
Away from the classroom, Ms Dorce-Coupet is a passionate writer and founder of her own Fiction Academy. She began writing at 13, producing her first 130-page manuscript, and has continued developing stories that captivate and challenge readers. Her works, including Embracing the Horror and its sequel, Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea, feature vivid characters and compelling narratives that reflect her creative depth.
For her, writing is not just a profession but an essential part of her identity. "Writing a novel is like playing God, and I love it," she says.
Ms. Dorce-Coupet is also co-founder of FireFly Publishing & Entertainment, an independent publishing company she founded with fellow writer Diane Dorc. Her entrepreneurial ventures reflect her commitment to empowering other writers and amplifying diverse voices.
A lifelong learner, Ms. Dorce-Coupet frequently takes creative writing courses at Florida International University and embraces new opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Darline Dorce-Coupet now lives in the Atlanta area. She teaches at DeKalb County Schools in Georgia.
