Marta Maretich

Marta Maretich is an American writer who lives and works in London. She is the author of three novels: The Possibility of Lions (GemmaMedia 2011), The Merchants of Light (Nine Elms Books 2015) and The Bear Suit (forthcoming in 2016). Her short fiction, nonfiction and poetry have appeared in many publications including Boom! A Journal of California, The Harvard Review and The Jacaranda Review. She was the editor of The Berkeley Poetry Review and Whispering Campaign, an arts journal. She has been awarded artist residencies at the Eastern Frontiers Educational Foundation at Norton Island and Yaddo.Marta was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and grew up in Bakersfield, California. She attended the University of California at Berkeley where she graduated with an honors degree in Comparative Literature. She has lived in London since 1995 with her husband, Michael Alford, a British painter.
