Sharon Cameron is a #1 New York Times bestselling author known for her historical fiction and young adult novels. With seven award-winning books to her name, she has received widespread acclaim for works such as The Light in Hidden Places (2020), Bluebird (2021), and Artifice (2023).

Her novels have won numerous awards, including the Parents' Choice Gold Award, the Westchester Fiction Award, and the Junior Library Guild's Gold Standard Award. She has also been recognised by publications such as Booklist, School Library Journal, BookPage, and Kirkus, and has received multiple starred reviews.

Cameron's writing career began with her debut novel, The Dark Unwinding (2012), which won the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators' Sue Alexander Award for Most Promising New Work. Its sequel, A Spark Unseen, continued her success, followed by Rook and The Forgetting, the latter of which became a #1 New York Times bestseller.

She later moved into historical fiction, where she has found her niche, bringing untold real-life stories to a modern audience.

A hallmark of Cameron's work is her meticulous research and ability to combine suspense with historical accuracy. The Light in Hidden Places tells the true story of Stefania Podgórska. It tells of a young Polish girl who hid thirteen Jews in her attic during the Second World War. The book was chosen for the Reese Witherspoon Book Club and has been published in 19 countries.

Bluebird explored post-war espionage and the hunt for Nazi war criminals, while Artifice explored the world of art forgery in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam. Each of her books examines individuals' difficult choices in times of crisis, often highlighting acts of quiet heroism.

Cameron's research process is immersive, drawing on first-hand accounts, oral histories and extensive archival work.

While writing Artifice, she visited Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum and Verzetsmuseum to understand the period better. A chance meeting with a Dutchman whose father was the bookkeeper for the notorious art forger Han van Meegeren provided crucial details that shaped the book's authenticity.

Cameron aims to keep important historical stories alive through her books and inspire modern readers to reflect on courage, resilience and moral dilemmas.

Sharon Cameron currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, where she continues to write and research her next novel.
