Through the Eyes of a Lion

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:30–31)

Keep those pictures in your mind, and read this carefully (because the devil does not want you to know this): as a blood-bought child of the King of Kings, you have the right to cue the eagle anytime you need to. Listen to this promise as it appears from the mouth of Isaiah the prophet:

Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;

We’re in this together—the space between promise and fulfillment. Living with your heart set on heaven but your feet still on earth is not easy.

We are today living in the spirit of an extended Saturday. We have a living Savior, so we have a living hope.

I’m sure for the disciples, Saturday lasted way. too. long. For some of them, it was too much to handle.

We will be reunited with those who have sailed before us to the distant shores of paradise. The hurting will end forever. Jesus will fully and finally turn off the dark once and for all.

The Son of righteousness will one day arise, with healing in his wings.

Just as pregnancy has a pleasurable beginning and a painful ending, grief starts with something brutal and ends with something beautiful: heaven.

God has taught my heart to sing again, and tucked away in the minor key, I hear his promise of all that is yet to come.

Will the pain ever end? Not on this earth, no.
