Basic Walking Bass Lines for Jazz Guitar explores the creation of walking bass lines played over chord sequence using only chord tones.
This is the usual path for beginner players who want to start with walking bass before moving to more complex techniques as scalar or chromatic lines.
A progressive approach is used to introduce walking bass technique: we begin with lines starting from the root of the chord, then we explore lines starting from chord guide tones (third and seventh) and then we create lines starting from any chord tone. On each step player discovers a new set of lines moving from very mechanical and repetitive examples to more melodic and professional lines.
In the first part of this book many exercises on single chord progression are presented, instead in the second part, studied lines are applied to most common jazz progressions.
