Sanders' is set in an anonymous British colony in West Africa. It revolves around three British officials administering the part of the colony based around a river with its people, troubles, and crimes. The main character is Commissioner Sanders, an honest and honorable civilian official who collects taxes, administers justice, and deals with invading Europeans.
