Robert Lewis Dabney (1820 — 1898) was a Southern Presbyterian pastor and Confederate Army chaplain. Dabney was most famous for being the chief of staff to General Thomas Stonewall Jackson during some of the battles he fought in. Dabney also wrote a biography on the great general titled Life and Campaigns of Stonewall Jackson which was published just 1 year after the Civil War ended and 3 years after Stonewall Jackson died from complications following friendly fire. The biography shows, amongst many things, the influence religion had on Stonewalls life and the perspective of the Civil War from a Southerner.
