LAGUNA DE FUENTE DE PIEDRA
About 20km northwest of Antequera, just off the A92 autovía (toll-free dual carriageway), is the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra. When it’s not dried up by drought, this is Andalucía’s biggest natural lake and one of Europe’s two main breeding grounds for the greater flamingo (the other is in the Camargue region of southwest France). After a wet winter as many as 20,000 pairs of flamingos will breed at the lake.
