An Argentinian priest with an American passport has decided to fight the drug cartel of Columbia that is making inroads into Argentina. He is preparing to fight in the next presidential election against the popular political parties to become the president of Argentina. But the popular political parties have forged a relationship with the drug cartel and relying upon it to remove the priest before the election date.

Sophie Kramer, a FBI Special Agent is assigned to ensure the priest’s safety while the CIA is covertly supporting the priest in his quest to become the next president. The CIA’s real agenda is motivated by the US Government’s political policies designed to gain access to the Argentinian natural resources. Charlie McGregor, ex Navy SEAL and a new FBI recruit, made famous by his remarkable feat of assassinating Osama bin Laden, is assigned to support Agent Kramer.

The drug cartel using their fear tactics severs several fingers of the priest’s father and sends them to the priest as a warning of things to come if he did not withdraw from the presidential race. The priest remains resolute and continues to speak against the popular parties as the election date approaches fast.

Sophie is uncomfortable with the wild ways of Charlie’s and specifically the way he develops close relationship with the drug cartel. Charlie is good with getting fast results but his ways of getting such results is of concern to Sophie. She begins to inquire about Charlie’s background and that upsets Charlie.

To Sophie’s amazement she finds out that both Charlie and the priest come from the same town in Idaho and what bothers her most that Charlie had specifically asked for this assignment. Sophie does not believe in coincidences and trusts that for every effect there is a cause. She begins to dig deeper into Charlie’s background.

In an unexpected visit to Charlie’s childhood town Sophie discovers a curious but frightening fact. Twenty years ago there was a death by drowning of a small boy with the same last name as Charlie and the priest was somehow involved. There was no evidence of any foul play at the time but it did not sit right with Sophie.

Sophie now switches her focus to the priest’s background and what she discovers frightens her. She approaches the cardinal who had appointed the priest to be the bishop of Argentina and questions him about the priest’s background. She is stonewalled. She is left with no choice but to approach the Vatican.

The Deputy Director of the FBI and CIA are upset with Sophie opening up old wounds and making noises in politically sensitive areas. She fights back claiming Charlie has a hidden agenda. Charlie protests and offers his resignation if that is what Sophie wants.

A very confusing situation evolves as Charlie remains untrustworthy, the local authorities refuse to cooperate with Sophie, the drug cartel at will punishes the priest and the Vatican warns Sophie of consequences if she continues to harass cardinals and the church.

Sophie is desperate for help, any help that could give her an edge over violence and corruption that is threatening to derail her mission. She realizes that the secret of balancing the situation lies in discovering the truth about Charlie and his connection with the priest and the drug cartel.

She goes against the wishes of her superiors and follows her instinct. She lays out a plan that could help her find the truth even if it meant risking her own life. Her plan is not foolproof but it is the only chance she has, as the election date is only a few days away.

‘The Unholy Ghost’ is a fast-pace, curious investigative crime story and a thriller that exposes the ugly truth about pedophiles and the corrupt church system. It is the second novel in the trilogy of Sophie Kramer as a Special FBI Agent, who is committed to seek justice for those who are victimized by oppression, unjust society, and unethical system.
