Very Definitely Recommended
I never give five-star reviews. Even to the classics, because no book is ever perfect and anyway opinions are subjective, and should be considered such. The only new author I have ever awarded 4 stars was Alice Sebold. None before and none since.
I was given this book by Camelot to review and have granted this new author a not inconsiderable 3 stars. The reasons being, the author’s consummate skill at descriptive imagery and setting the scene. His ability to create three dimensional characters. His considerable efforts to make this book appear to have been written about, and in the style of the 1930s. The sample of the next book in the series, designed to whet our appetite, also had the desired effect. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and am looking forward to being given the opportunity to review book two also. Thank you, Camelot Publishing.
