A Fine Balance is known for its emotional depth and unflinching portrayal of hardship. While I appreciate stories about strong women, I struggled to connect with Dina. I don’t always need to relate to a character, but when pacing is slow, I need something else to pull me in—and this novel didn’t do that for me.
Maybe my experience was influenced by my state of mind. Some books break your heart yet keep you turning the pages, but this one felt more like a weight I had to push through. For those who enjoy slow, immersive storytelling, it might be a masterpiece. But if pacing matters to you, this could be a tough read.
Poignant, beautiful, and tragic.
Wonderful, emotional story
