Wind, waves--and a broken boat oar--force four teenagers from the suburbs into a saltwater swamp with marsh grass, fiddler crabs, briars — and at least one snake. There, they struggle to survive while constantly debating politics, religion, love and cigarettes. An unplanned stop turns into a tragedy, and this comical adventure ultimately becomes a perilous journey along a stream called Purgatory Creek — and a struggle between life and death in the face of an oncoming storm.
