This work is a chronicle of the most famous betrayal in U.S. history; put together with the primary goal of presenting an account of the treason of Arnold, Life and Treason of Benedict Arnold by Jared Sparks includes everything from what led to it; what was planned in order to carry it forward, and what its fundamental issue was. The American author, historian, and publisher, Jared Sparks, also considered it essential to include events of Arnold's earlier life, as many of these events invoke a genuine interest and let people understand the matter with a new perspective. The work contains all the necessary information on the topic from Arnold's birth to his sail for England, his Residence at St. John's, and in the West Indies to his Death. Apart from the printed sources of information, the author used a large number of original papers in the manuscript, which was never examined before. Sparks aimed at uncompromising accuracy in his statements and verified them whenever possible by reference to manuscript authorities.
