Studies show that emails sent Friday evening after 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday all have a statistically higher chance of being opened, with emails sent Saturday gaining the biggest boost of an additional 25 percent chance of being opened.

According to the experts, the content of your subject line doesn’t seem to be as important as the actual length of the subject line itself with the success rates of shorter subject lines rising to the point that those with less than 10 characters total are opened nearly 60 percent of the time. While subject lines above 70 characters also see a moderate standard open rate, for reasons that no one is quite sure of, subject lines that are between 60 and 70 characters are rarely if ever opened, even in an opt-in scenario like yours.

When it comes to marketing for your online business or website, it is important to have a healthy social media presence as well as a firm grasp of the importance of SEO if you want to reach out and find new revenue streams. If you also spend time slowly building a reputation as an authority in a given niche, then you will be able to rest easy; the revenue streams will come to you instead.

With the proper understanding on the type of data that you are going to be collecting, it is important to have a clear idea what you are going to do with it after you have it. All of that data won’t do you any good if you don’t organize it properly and take advantage of it at every opportunity. Creating the right infrastructure early on is important to ensure certain information doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.

Consider How You Will Collect Data
Once you have a clear idea of what type of information you want from your users or customers, the next thing you will need to determine is how to go about getting it. Sometimes it may be the right choice to ask for it all at once, while other times you will want to spread out the process and ask for it in less intrusive chunks. Depending on your needs and those of your audience, there are many different ways you can go about collecting important information, including:
    • On the confirmation page for successful subscriptions
    • In the email that goes out to new subscribers once they

    • Your goals should be specific: If the goals for your email marketing campaign are specific, you will be able to clearly explain them in only a few sentences. You should have a clear idea of the various requirements for achieving the goal as well as what types of constraints, if any, may stand between you and the completion of the goal. You should also feel as though the goal has a clear timeline and whether you will need any outside help to complete it.
    • Your goals should be measurable: If a goal is measureable, you will be able to clearly determine if your campaign has been either a resounding success, acceptable, or a huge mistake. You should also be able to split the goal up into smaller pieces which can then also be measured for success or failure to keep you firmly on the path to success.
    • Your goals should be attainable: Attainable goals are those that accurately take into account anything standing between you and the successful completion of the goal in question (such as the inherent bias against email marketing). It is important to take a look at your goal from all sides and be realistic when it comes to determining what might stand in your way. Looking at your goal with rose-colored glasses won’t help; it is in your best interest to be as critical as possible.
    • Your goals should be realistic: A goal is realistic if it is attainable, regardless of the amount of effort required, without requiring an act of divine intervention to see them through. The ideal goal is one that is difficult enough that you will have to work for it, but not so difficult that it becomes impossible. Likewise, it is important to not pick easy goals as studies show that believing a goal is easily within reach is actually a detriment to your motivation to complete it.
    • Your goal should have a timetable that is clearly defined: Even the best goals are likely to fall apart if they have a timetable that is either too strict or too generous. If a timeline is unreasonably short, you run the risk of having to cut corners to see it through to completion. On the other hand, timelines that are too lenient don’t provide the proper motivation to give them your full attention in the present. As such, finding the appropriate middle ground is the only realistic path to success.

As long as the email is sent with permission, studies show that email is the marketing channel that is most preferred by consumers nearly 2 to 1 over both mobile and social media marketing.
This means it is also still the most cost-effective way to reach potential customers bar none, with the Direct Marketing Association estimating that its return on investment is a staggering 4,000 percent. Email marketing is so effective for the cheap and easy way it allows you to reach consumers, but your emails will only be opened if you take the time to become an authority in your niche and provide useful content outside of just a list of the latest deals.
