“Are you telling them about the time you broke your arm trying to be Superman?”

“Yup,” I call back.

“Get lost,” a sharp voice snaps. “He’s taken.”

“Where are you?” Because I’m about ten seconds from calling 911.

Then I drive to the hospital to take care of our boy.

So my childish quest to be acknowledged ends without satisfaction. But hey, I have a very clean sink.

But tonight it’s just an excuse to be skin to skin on the couch with my man while my dinner reheats.
