Over the last five decades Indian agriculture has undergone a sea change altering significantly the rural landscape. The changes in the institutional set up were med by deliberate government policies in order to accelerate agriculture development and thereby augment rural income. This study is an attempt at evaluating the performance of contract farming in India and Maharashtra. Therefore an attempt has been made in this book to study the progress of contract farming in India and Maharashtra, to study cropping pattern of selected farmers participated in contract farming, impact of contract farming on economic development of farmers, effect of contract farming on agricultural production of selected farmers and to study the changes in processing industries due to contract farming.
