Originally published in 1975, the critically-acclaimed novel, Tiger! Tiger! was authored by Award-Winning Indonesian Journalist, Mochtar Lubis (1922–2004) during his incarceration in a Madiun prison. Tiger! Tiger! was a response to the Indonesians following Mr. Lubis' arrest which was imposed by then Indonesian dictator, President Sukarno, whose politics and leadership was constantly critiqued in the media by Mr. Lubis.
Tiger! Tiger! is the profound story of seven dammar collectors who, while traveling back to their home village after spending two weeks in the forest gathering natural resources for wages, become aware that they are being stalked by a ferocious tiger. Unable to be saved by their charismatic leader when they're attacked, the group is forced to try to save each other from the tiger's deadly clenches.
In every harrowing encounter with the relentless predator, each member of the group discovers one another's strengths and weaknesses. The men soon realize that before they can kill the savage beast hunting them, they must first kill the beast residing within them if they are to ever survive.
