“It’s not like I lied to you,” Regulus hurries to explain. “I just… I’m afraid, James,” Regulus confesses. “I’m afraid of what you’ll discover if I’m around you all the time. If it’s not just a summer.”

To Regulus’ surprise, James doesn’t immediately dismiss this. He doesn’t tell him it’s nonsense. Doesn’t tell him he’s perfect. James draws back, cups Regulus’ face with his hand. “Everyone has things they don’t like about themselves. I already knew you had flaws, Reg. I don’t love you despite of them. I love you with them. Maybe even because of them.”
