    Compassion is an inner air conditioning. Suddenly everything is cool and beautiful, and nothing can disturb you, and the whole existence is transformed into a friend. Now there is no more enemy…because when you look through the eyes of anger, somebody becomes an enemy; when you look through the eyes of compassion, everybody is a friend, a neighbor. When you love, everywhere is God; when you hate, everywhere is the Devil.

    Meditation can only be a help to that person who has come to a right understanding with his inner diseases, when he has come to understand which disease is false, which disease is wrongly identified, and which disease is not there at all – the container is empty.

    He can look at his own periphery from a distance; when you hit him he can see it as if you have hit somebody else, because the center is so distant…as if he is a watcher on the hills and something is happening in the valleys and he can see it. This is the first thing to be understood.

    When you are at the center it sounds fascinating, you can enjoy it. When you are cool you can enjoy the whole world. When you are hot you cannot enjoy it, because you get so much into it; you are lost, you get identified. You become so messed up in it, how can you enjoy it?

    This may sound paradoxical, but I tell you: only a buddha enjoys this world. Then everything sounds fascinating.

    Buddha was passing near a village; a few people came and they abused him very badly, saying nasty things, and using vulgar words – and he just stood there.
