«You owe me a honeymoon.»
Addie Farrell's marriage to casino magnate Malachi King lasted exactly one day, until she discovered their love was a sham. Now, with funding for her children's charity about to be cut, Addie must face her husband—and their dangerously seductive chemistry—once again!
Humiliated and frustrated after Addie's sudden departure, Malachi seizes the chance to put the power back where it belongs: in his hands. The deal: Malachi will give her the money she desperately needs, if she returns to his side…and finally he will claim his long-awaited wedding night!

Impressions

The food was both delicious and beautifully presented, but Addie found it impossible to enjoy her lobster salad. - lobsters are boiled alive. That is disgustingly cruel, especially in this day and age.

‘You’re very quiet, sweetheart. I thought you wanted to talk?’ Lolling back against the leather upholstery, Malachi gazed at her intently. She shrugged. ‘I was just thinking.’ ‘Then I should probably be leaving!’ His eyes, light and dancing, fixed on her face even as the corners of his mouth began to tilt upwards. ‘A quiet woman is like a hand grenade. A quiet woman thinking is like a hand grenade with the pin pulled out.’ - he's a real tool. What an asshole!

‘Then let me explain. I want you to come away with me for a month. To be my mistress.’ His eyes locked on to hers, pinning her against the leather upholstery. ‘Do that and you can keep the money. Who knows? There might even be a little bonus in it for you as well.’ - they're married so using "mistress" to denote her position is pretty callous, especially when he's a serial manwhore...

And then, realising how good she was for his image, it had been easy to persuade himself that she would make the perfect wife, her role in the local charity sector the yin to his yang as a ruthless, self-serving entrepreneur. Crucially, their partnership would help ensure a more positive reception for his new casino in downtown Miami. - ahh gambling, tears families apart, making desperate people lose their heads trying to win big. This should be a crime

He was entirely self-serving and always, however reasonable he appeared, got exactly what he wanted. - most millionaires/billionaires are exactly like this. How else do they accumulate such wealth...

This time her heart was definitely off limits. This deal would only involve her body—and only for a limited period. And, of course, a large amount of money. - sounds like an agreement with an escort 😒

But of course paradise wasn’t perfect, she thought dully. As well as cool streams and sunshine there were snakes. Or in this case one particular snake. - let's not compare the animal kingdom to ruthless, self-serving bastards. Animals are entirely innocent, no facade or manipulation behind their actions.

‘I can’t believe I offered to cook,’ Addie groaned, gazing down at her plate. ‘You didn’t.’ Biting into a barbecued rib with guava and tamarind, Malachi raised an eyebrow. ‘What is this?’ Addie glanced at the menu. ‘It’s coconut and shrimp tempura. It’s delicious.’ She sighed. ‘I think I’ve eaten about forty already.’ - ribs, shrimp etc..once attached to a living, sentient life. We need to look past our own selfish behaviour and understand that our preferences (taste) should never win over doing the right thing.

He shrugged. ‘My pride! Look, they were small nurse sharks in a tank in a Vegas hotel. - it's a pity the writer has no sense of decency when writing about living creatures with the intelligence/emotions and conscience of young children. Would it be ok if these were children stuck behind glass for the rest of their lives?

"I know sugar’s bad for you,..." eating fruit and pulpy fruit juice is fine.

The coral was like a living rainbow. And everywhere there were fish of every shade and shape. - that living rainbow is dying because of our actions. Pollution, animal agriculture, rising sea levels - all these contribute to that living rainbow being erased out of existence 💔

The meal was delicious: a starter of burrata salad followed by taglierini with shaved white truffles and a chocolate fondant for dessert. ‘I’m so glad it’s not fish,’ Addie said, glancing out of the window at the darkened ocean. ‘What if they’d looked in and seen us?’ Malachi grinned. He had taken off his jacket and his tanned muscular skin was perfectly offset by the pure white of his shirt. ‘I think they’d be pleased you weren’t eating them. It’s a fish-eat-fish world out there.’ - Does anyone feel a sense of shame eating cheese, ice cream, butter, cream, adding milk to your coffee? Do you realize that cows are raped continually to maintain a constant production of milk that is harmful for the human body? Think about it. We know what happens when bodybuilders use growth hormones and steroids. Animal milk is the exact same thing - meant to give the baby animal a huge growth spurt. What happems when you ingest steroids and GH over a lifetime? Cancer...

‘I don’t understand,’ she said slowly. His face didn’t alter but his eyes narrowed fractionally. ‘You don’t need to. This is way beyond your pay grade, sweetheart.’ - condescending sh*thead...

As he pushed the last forkful of eggs Benedict into his mouth, she gave him a mischievous smile and started clapping. - factory farmed eggs are what 99% of the population purchases. These hens are stuffed into a cage the size of a shoebox and forced to lay eggs until they are so exhausted, they literally have life drained away. 💔💔💔💔

Like trying to put a head collar on a wild mustang. - Heartbreaking that the US government is deliberately exterminating wild mustangs in favour of more animal agriculture. I hope Fuller wakes up and realizes that we are aware of other lifeforms in this century and need to include a VASTLY DIFFERENT, KINDER AND MORE COMPASSIONATE OUTLOOK, not only in how we treat each other, but all those vulnerable non-human animals that are defenseless against the inhumane nature of man.
