But Eleni isn’t alone in this fractured city.  The Cadence Guild, a secretive order determined to control music’s power, hunts her relentlessly, viewing her unique connection to the symphony as a dangerous weapon.  And as their silent agents close in, Eleni finds an unlikely ally in Rhys Malcolm, a disillusioned Guild member who sees the suffocating effects of their control.
Together, they must navigate the city's hidden passages, decipher the ancient score, and disable the Guild’s network of sonic dampeners, reawakening Vienna’s silenced voice. But their actions draw the attention of the Guild’s enigmatic leader, Silas Thorne, a man who believes silence is the ultimate form of order.
In a final, breathtaking crescendo at the very concert hall where Aelric's symphony premiered, Eleni must confront Thorne and his forces.
