The Serpent and the Skylark

Within the imposing, gothic walls of Midnight Manor, perched precariously on a windswept cliff, Lady Elara Moreland endures a torment far more chilling than any earthly chain. Bound not by iron, but by the spectral presence of her deceased husband, Lord Silas, she exists in a perpetual twilight of grief, her only companions the chilling whispers that echo through the decaying halls.  Years have passed since Silas's shadowy demise, yet Elara remains tethered to his restless spirit, trapped within a prison of sorrow and unresolved secrets.
The arrival of Rhys Sterling, an antiquarian scholar with an enigmatic gaze and hidden depths, shatters the oppressive stillness. He seeks not the manor's rumored treasures, but an arcane artifact — the Serpent's Eye, a gem said to hold ancient power. Clinging to a desperate hope, Elara agrees to aid Rhys in his quest, praying the Serpent's Eye might also hold the key to severing the spectral chains that bind her.
Their search plunges them into the heart of the manor, a labyrinth of hidden passages and forgotten chambers where cobwebs hang like shrouds and portraits of stern-faced ancestors seem to watch with accusing eyes.  Within a hidden library, amidst forgotten tomes and cryptic manuscripts, Elara discovers a truth far more sinister than she could have imagined: Silas's devotion to the Obsidian Circle, an occult society promising immortality at a terrible cost.
