Private Investigator J. Parker Wrighte is investigating the suicide of film star Pepper O'Dell for Monolith Studios. After meeting the seductive screen idol Domino Mueller, Parker escorts her to a meeting with Dr. Rome at his clinic. Here is accosted by Bill Smith,an old associate from his tenement roots. As things are turning ugly, Domino steps in calms everyone down. Then she and Parker share a romantic tryst at her estate. Parker later meets Bill at a saloon in the old neighborhood where they discuss two related suicides, the mysterious Dr. Rome and watch the alcoholic Fr. Pat take a misguided parishioner to task.
